The global impact of transportation on greenhouse gas emissions cannot be understated, with emissions growing by 8% year-on-year and rebounding to account for a substantial 37% share of total emissions in 2021.South Africa, like many other nations, faces significant hurdles in curbing emissions from the transport sector. Currently, transport stands as the third-largest emitting sector in the country, releasing nearly 55 Mt of CO2. These emissions contribute to over 10% of South Africa's national gross emissions, exacerbating the nation's environmental footprint.
