DANZAS AEI will take over all existing Danzas business in South Africa from April 16, including clearing functions which have been outsourced for the past four years.
The Danzas office in this country has been operating as a sales-delegation operation, offering only forwarding services. In order to provide a complete door-to-door service, an exclusive handling agency agreement was entered into with Grindrod in July 1996 in which Grindrod handled all Danzas's customers clearing requirements.
As a result of the Deutsche Post-AEI acquisition, and the subsequent merging of AEI and Danzas in South Africa, the clearing function will no longer be outsourced as the AEI office, now Danzas AEI, is able to perform this function.
The handling agency agreement between Danzas and Grindrod was formerly terminated on March 15, 2000. By mutual agreement between the two parties, the original 90 day expiry was reduced, enabling the contract to be terminated on April 15.
In the structuring of the South African management of the company Arthur McWilliam Smith is now the chairman with Daniella de Pauw managing director. Ryk Jordaan is financial director, Nigel Haselau marketing director and Mon Stoltz corporate accounts director.
Other directors are Brian Olwage (airfreight), Ricky dos Santos (seafreight), Vivienne Fortune (regional Cape Town) and Ronnie Nayager (airfreight KwaZulu Natal). Steven Atkinson fills the post of seafreight branch manager, KwaZulu Natal.
