Jed Michaletos has been appointed chief officer: Customs and Excise with effect from January 1, 2016.
Michaletos has extensive experience in the Customs field, having served Deloitte in a number of senior-level positions, most recently as partner/director.
In his current position, he leads the customs and global trade team in South Africa which is part of the taxation services department at Deloitte. He is responsible for all customs and global trade services in Africa. In addition he is the representative on the global executive for the customs and global trade service line at Deloitte as well as on the Tax South Africa Business Unit Leader group.
