Ahead of the new Solas

VGM regulation that kicks

in on July 1, Cape Townbased

transport operator

Mweza Trans has invested

in a weighbridge that will

become operational from

June 22 at its premises in

Parow.

The company will charge

R225 excluding VAT

for the weighing of each

container if Mweza Trans

is doing the transport, and

R 300 ex VAT for outside

transporters.

“Trucks only need to be

weighed once,” says Mweza’s

Dewald Theron. “We will

be using the machine to

lift the container to get the

tare weight, then place the

container on the truck to

get the VGM.

“We will be using Method

1 and certificates will be

available on request.”
