AVERAGE VESSEL delays were down to 27 hours at Cape Town Container Terminal last week, but for once the wind was not the culprit; rather high cargo volumes to contend with.
Oscar Borchards, business unit manager at the terminal, said on Sunday call sizes had doubled to about 600 over the past two years and that current delays were therefore purely due to that reason. “Obviously we cannot influence the time of sailings from wherever the vessels emanate.”
