Craig Crozet É daily trucks, fully insured, depart from each station to and from Johannesburg at 18h00
CARGO SERVICE Center Trucking, with its headquarters at Johannesburg International Airport, has established its reputation as a full extension to the airlines that it serves as well as a 'flyer' of domestic freight for a variety of agents.
ÒOur product and service is developed around customer needs and demands, which we endeavour to meet with drive and enthusiasm,Ó says national CSC trucking operation manager Craig Crozet. ÒWe are a customer-led business. Highly indicative of this approach is the fact that a variety of international airlines now offer Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town as a final destination or origin. This means that rates are quoted direct to clearing and forwarding agents, and the CSC trucks receive allotted flight numbers.Ó
CSC's growth, says Crozet, has been phenomenal. Additional infrastructure in the form of operational equipment, a communication network and now a nationally linked IT system (CaSCades), has translated into over 70% growth in tonnage over the last 12 months. CaSCades will provide quicker response times as well as immediate information on any track and trace query nationwide. It is fully compatible with most airline systems, which means that all required airfreight messages can be sent on line.
Nationally, CSC Trucking is serviced by over 16 dedicated staff.
ÒTraining and development is key to future success and CSC Trucking staff are taking stepsÓ to ensure that we remain leaders in our market,Ó says Crozet ÒCourses being studied range from logistics management to an MBA degree. We see customers' needs being met, not a product delivered. We measure our success in meeting these challenges using the AHS 1000 system, which is aligned to the airfreight procedures and norms.Ó
CSC Trucking has daily trucks, fully insured, departing from each station to and from Johannesburg at 18h00. A scheduled Sunday truck departs from Johannesburg to Durban every week. Crozet's office remains in touch with customs and conforms to all customs regulations. It now processes all RIB documents on the CSC road bond.
The coastal offices are headed up by Charl Francis in Port Elizabeth, Liane Wedderburn in Cape Town and Tony Goncalves in Durban, with Igor Jovanovic in Johannesburg. This team, led by Crozet, recently held a strategy/teambuilding weekend in Port Elizabeth where strategy and operational improvements were high on the agenda.
