Crucial talks will examine Nacala privatisation

A CRUCIAL meeting on full privatisation of the Nacala corridor to Malawi is to be held on September 24 and 25 in Maputo.
At stake is the whole future of the corridor, as potential investors and users are becoming unhappy with the slow pace of progress.
"The corridor is working well," says Dave Sly of Unifeeder, "but some people are feeling that it is time for the government to let go of the reins completely. Hopefully, it will all be solved at the Maputo meeting."
Since June 1 Unifeeder has moved more than 1 000 TEUs each way through the corridor and a steady increase is expected
