FREIGHT DESTINED for New York aboard SAA’s damaged flight 203 in Dakar on Saturday (January 24) was loaded aboard the airline’s next flight which called at the Senegalese capital the following day, arriving in New York on Monday.
The day’s delay, which also saw 180 passengers stranded in Dakar for 24 hours, was caused when an Alitalia aircraft backed into the SAA airliner which was parked on the tarmac. The damaged under carriage and rudder of the SAA aircraft were repaired before it was flown back to Johannesburg.
