Perry Siatulye, founder and
managing director of Ndolabased
Halifax Freight Services,
believes so strongly in education that
staff are regularly sent to South Africa
for training, in addition to in-house
refresher courses.
This has laid the foundation for the
expansion of the range of services
offered by the company, which is one
of the first clearing houses in Zambia
to also handle procurement.
All the key staff of the customs
clearing and forwarding agency are
former Zambian customs officers
who have in-depth and practical
understanding of the country’s
customs system, in addition to
extensive contacts in the customs
services.
The revival of the fortunes of
the copper mines is creating new
opportunities and Halifax has
expanded from its base of customs
clearing to procurement of goods
ranging from rations for the army to
office supplies.
Its own fleet of light delivery
vehicles enables the company to
procure goods from outside Zambia,
arrange transport by road, air or rail,
clear the goods, and deliver them to
clients.
In addition to its Ndola
headquarters, Halifax has offices
at all the country’s border posts to handle the clearing of cargo.
