Convention Centre gets the green light to expand

THE Cape Town International Convention Centre, a success story if ever there was one, has received the green light from national government to expand onto the adjacent site of its Customs House on the Foreshore. Andrew Boraine, chairman of Convenco, the holding company responsible for the centre’s development, says it’s now “all systems go” after the department of Public Works agreed to cede the valuable piece of real estate overlooking the port of Cape Town. In terms of the lease agreement with Public Works, the national government will become a shareholder in Convenco.
