Up to three intermodal
container depots are on
the cards for the Coega
Industrial Development Zone
(IDZ), according to Gustav
Meyer, Coega Development
Corporation (CDC)
automotive business manager.
The pioneer was APM
Terminals, which opened in
the IDZ in September 2012.
Meyer says the CDC
is hoping to conclude
negotiations with two
international logistics
companies that have
committed to establishing
intermodal container depots
at Coega.
“This will in essence mean
three of the big five container
terminal companies –
inclusive of APM Terminals –
will have operations at Coega.”
Other logistics operators
already in the zone are
expanding.
Plans for the expansion
of UTi Sun Couriers and
Digistics will commence this
year.
