The opening of a new warehouse facility in Lusaka to handle groupage cargo bound for South Africa is paying dividends for Cee Cee Freight. The company has also moved its headquarters from Lusaka airport to the new facility in the capital’s industrial area along Mukwa road. “We can now offer a doorto- door service between South Africa and Zambia, as well as within Zambia for shipments of all sizes,” says company head Chris Chiinda. “We work with a number of shops and factories where we clear the goods for them and then deliver to their premises,” he says. Cee Cee freight is represented in Dar es Salaam, Maputo and Durban. According to Chiinda, the company’s South African network is also helping Zambian farmers find new markets to the south following the collapse of exports to Europe as a result of the recession and rising transport costs. Malawian tea growers are also moving their crops through Zambia, says Chiinda. The company is able to assist shippers wanting to use Zambia as a hub for exports to the rest of the region, using a combination of its own fleet and transport contractors. With over a decade in the Zambian logistics field, Chiinda has started a freight consultancy service which covers all aspects of moving goods through the region, including customs, forwarding and logistics for road, rail and air freight.
