AN INTERIM solution for the Catch 22 situation - no bill of entry without a container number, and no container number without a bill of entry - has been engineered between the SA Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) in Durban and customs.
Also, customs has now implemented this on a national basis, SAAFFÕs Dave Watts told FTW, with a notice to all its regional management that a shipping line reference number will be acceptable where a container number is not available.
But itÕs only a temporary solution, Watts added.
