Ed Richardson
THE COEGA Development Corporation (CDC) has advertised the first construction tender for the proposed Industrial Development Zone - a water break pressure tank and pipe line to reinforce the existing metropolitan bulk water supply infrastructure.
Work started on an access road between a quarry and the port site in February 2001.
CDC Technical and Planning Manager Eugene Heeger says that while the contract is relatively small, the tender provides opportunities for all local suppliers and contractors.
This is the first of many such tenders and companies have the opportunity to start building capacity right from the start, he says.
Construction on the water break pressure tank and pipelines will start as soon as possible after the contracts have been awarded.
