CFR FREIGHT Air has taken off in the CFR Freight Port Elizabeth branch. The “relatively new” service is showing “consistent growth,” according to CFR Freight Port Elizabeth branch manager Sherrol Lacey. Much of the demand is driven by just-in-time cargo, “which is proving to be our core airfreight business in the Eastern Cape”. CFR Freight Air offers a “neutral airfreight consolidation service” out of Port Elizabeth to the clearing and forwarding industry throughout the province, according to Lacey. “This provides the agents with many options of utilising various airlines we are contracted to, offering our customers an extensive neutral airfreight agency network,” she said. “Our service is particularly useful to some of the smallto medium-sized agents in PE who may not have a dedicated airfreight division. CFR Air Freight effectively becomes an extension of their operations."
