Messina Line is continuing to maintain a strong foothold in southern Africa, providing essential shipping services to Mozambique at the ports of Maputo, Beira and Nacala.The company’s maritime journey began in 1935 when it started calling at ports through the Suez Canal. That same year, Messina Line launched a regular service to East Africa, which soon expanded to the southern regions of the continent.Recently, Messina Line hosted a celebratory event in Johannesburg, highlighting its enduring presence in South and East Africa. Captain Tonino D’Esposito addressed attendees, emphasising the company's commitment to fostering close relationships with shippers. He expressed gratitude to the dedicated staff whose efforts have been fundamental to the company's success.In recent years, Messina Line has navigated a challenging landscape, particularly between 2006 and 2020, which prompted a strategic shift from its traditional roll-on roll-off f leet to a fully containerised operation.
