MAPUTO’S PROPOSED car terminal will be built near the present entrance to the harbour, and on the site where MPDC is currently housed in warehouse accommodation before moving into new offices.
“The car terminal is dependent on the completion of negotiations to have the border open 24 hours a day,” says MPDC’s Dick Moore. “Once this gets going, and we can handle the efficient flow of export and imported vehicles, car carriers will be able to leave Pretoria manufacturing points, drive to Maputo, off-load or load, and be back at their Pretoria headquarters in the space of 18 hours.”
