Renault and Nissan are investing R1bn in their manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, Gauteng. The investment will help push production from 40 000 units a year to 68 000 by 2009, according to a statement by the companies. Production of the new Nissan half-ton Pickup NP200 has already started in the plant. The production of Renault Sandero will start in 2009. This is the first Renault to be built in South Africa.
