Since the Lufthansa cabin crew walkouts started last Friday, it has led to the cancellation of almost 4 000 flights, disrupting the travel plans of more than 430 000 passengers.
That’s not to mention the airfreight carried bellyhold in these aircraft.
A total of 933 flights were cancelled yesterday (Thursday) - equivalent to around one-third of the daily flights usually operated by the airlines within the group.
And, if Lufthansa fails in a “go back to work” court appeal, it seems likely a similar number of flights could be cancelled today.
This whole shebang is costing the airline more than R152 million a day.
