South Africa’s freight and supply chain management professionals will gather at the upcoming 2024 SAAFF/SAPICS Conference to focus on innovative solutions to the current national logistics crisis.

The Southern African Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) has collaborated with SAPICS, the professional body for supply chain management, to host the event at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town from 9 to 12 June.

More than 750 delegates are expected to attend the conference which will include 55 impactful sessions, 11 interactive workshops, and five site visits, as well as many networking opportunities.

The event has been designed to gather key stakeholders in the logistics industry to  “impact and correct” the troubled state of the sector.

Conference speakers, who will cover a wide range of urgent industry topics, include SAAFF chief executive officer, Juanita Maree; Integrated Supply Chains executive consultant, Ian Bird; NLCC strategic advisor, Irvindra Naidoo, and Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) president, Mxolisi Mgojo.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Cost efficiencies while navigating complexities in cargo insurance.
  • Growth strategies within special economic zones.
  • The competitive e-commerce landscape and its effect on South Africa’s logistics.
  •  Solutions for excessive fuel overheads through an integrated rail system.
  • Driving the frequency of public and private sector partnerships.

SAAFF representative, Devlyn Naidoo, emphasised the importance of the collaboration between the organisations to host the upcoming event.

“SAPICS and SAAFF are committed to providing a platform for industry professionals to exchange knowledge and foster innovation in supply chain management,” he said.
