Bremner takes over as chief harbour master

RAY SMUTS SOUTH AFRICA has a new chief harbour master in Captain Eddie Bremner, Cape Town’s harbour master, following the retirement of Captain Neil Brink. Speaking to FTW a day or so after the massive storm that hit the Cape earlier this month, Bremner confirmed he was already carrying out his new duties and that several other harbour masters were moving including Saldanha’s Captain Ravi Naicker who is on his way to the port of Richards Bay. Bremner was at the time unable to elaborate further on other appointments which have yet to be announced by the National Ports Authority. Saldanha’s port manager Eugene Kearns said Naicker’s move was part of the national structural plan for harbour masters. “Ravi has been at Saldanha for several years and his contribution was invaluable. Fortunately, he is not lost to to the company and we are arranging for somebody to act until a full-time appointment is confirmed.”
