BMW wins export award

BMW (SOUTH AFRICA) is the first company to win the Johannesburg Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry Exporter of the Year award. At a ceremony in Sandton last week, Molefe Seth Phalatse, the company's director of government affairs and African sales, received the winning plaque. With the help of forwarders Hellmann Worldwide Logistics BMW says they overcame negative perceptions in overseas markets, particularly Japan and Australia, to manufacture to international standards and are currently exporting 61% of their products. Maersk Sealand and the National Ports Authority were among the major sponsors.
