Since it made its own presence felt in Bloemfontein recently, Kayhill Freight has more than doubled its previous business in the Free State capital, according to MD Kevin Dagnin. “We’ve been servicing that market for quite some time,” he told FTW. “And it had eventually reached a volume which justified our own presence in the market.” And, since opening it own office and 700-m2 warehouse in the city, business has boomed even further. “It also gave us our own electronic data interchange (EDI) location there, and simplifies the data links between our two office complexes in SA at Bloem and Johannesburg – and with our cross-border depot in Maseru, Lesotho,” Dagnin added. Karin le Grange is running the new depot in the Flower City, and is building up a growing relationship with long-haul truckers coming up from the Cape – who also find time-advantage in their favour by dropping off their consignments and doing a truck-turnaround in Bloemfontein. The new centre has also justified its own small fleet of vehicles, being able to run two local delivery vehicles (LDVs) and one line-haul truck – which pulls out fully loaded from Bloemfontein each night.
