Construction of an

extension to the existing

Beira container terminal is

progressing well and is nearly

completed.

A new agribulk facility has

been created that can store

over 25 000 tons of cargo.

It is currently being used to

deal with the large amounts

of maize imports due to the

regional drought, but will be

used for other commodities in

2017.

Work is expected to start

within the next two years on

a planned extension of the

quayside in the port of Beira.

The 600-metre extension of

the existing quayside will also

provide vessels with a 14-metre

draft, according to Cornelder

executive managing director

Adelino Mesquita.
