‘Be determined to be the best’

Born: Cape Town. Educated: Good Hope Seminary, Cape Town; Grahamstown Training College. First job: School teacher – Wynberg Boys Primary. Freight industry start: Growing up with parents who were editors of freight and travel publications we were always exposed to business during school and college holidays. I initially started this company on a part-time, half day basis when my children were small. From there it grew and grew. Industry challenges: Extremely fast paced environment and constant need to upgrade one’s skills to keep up-to-date with industry changes. Influential person in shaping your career: My father. He always believed in his children and encouraged them to be adventurous and try and try again. Best personal/professional achievement: Building the business nationally over the past 31 years and seeing my three children return from work/travel overseas to rejoin the company. Recipe for success: Be determined to be the best at whatever you choose and continue driving yourself to get there.
