Bargain hunters snap up Affretair spoils

Martin Rushmere BARGAIN HUNTERS are getting the chance to pick over the remains of cargo airline Affretair. The first public auction of assets, following final liquidation earlier this year, has been held, with vehicles and office furniture going at knock-down prices. "This is the first step in what has been a long haul in closing down the operation," says liquidator Terri Cooper of KPMG,"with more than a year elapsing so far. More valuable items will be on sale later, as soon as relevant decisions are taken." No word has yet been forthcoming on the transfer of the two most valuable assets, the ground handling contract and air service permit.
