BRITISH AIRWAYS will fly daily between Cape Town and London from July 3, taking in the additional service which was originally awarded to Virgin Atlantic Airways.
The latter, which offers a once-a-week service on the route, was granted an additional flight by the UK Civil Aviation Authority earlier this year, but an appeal against this by BA has been upheld.
At present BA flies into Cape Town six times a week with its Boeing 747-400 fleet, which will now extend to the extra service. Virgin will continue to fly an A340 on its single weekly route, giving Cape Town eight flights per week on the direct London route.
