Zimbabwe government gives limited approval pending further negotiations
BRITISH AIRWAYS Comair has been given the green light by the Zimbabwe government to reinstate its daily service between Johannesburg and Harare on a temporary basis.
The airline was geared to increase its service on this route from three to seven flights a week in October last year, but this was suspended as a result of an inter-governmental dispute concerning Comair's franchise relationship with BA.
The reinstatement has been approved on a limited basis until the end of this month while negotiations are proceeding on the future of the agreement. A governmental announcement is expected shortly in this respect.
At the same time BA has announced it will suspend its on-going flights to Durban from Johannesburg at the end of this month, and will have on-bound freight transhipped to Comair flights for Durban destinations.
