'It will appeal particularly to those smaller operators who find the
outlay in obtaining ISO certification beyond their means'
A COURSE AIMED at assisting smaller companies to obtain their ISO certification at reduced cost is to be introduced by Johannesburg-based ISO consultant Tony Hussey. It will be co-ordinated with certification group Dekra.
Larger agencies are welcome, but I think it will appeal particularly to those smaller operators who find the outlay in obtaining ISO certification beyond their means, says Hussey.
Envisaged is a two-day course for groups numbering between five and a maximum of 10 representatives of separate companies.
They will be introduced to ISO requirements, taken through the certification process, and then have an individual quality policy manual developed for them.
Attending companies will be required to provide an organogram and job descriptions of top executives down to supervisor level.
As a follow-up to the course. Hussey will make two one-day visits to each of the companies.
At the end of these, the application for certification will be submitted to Dekra, who have agreed to treat the course as an association, and will also reduce their certification fees.
If this can gather momentum, I would like to hold these courses on a monthly basis, says Hussey.
