BA opts for Boeing

BOEING HAS stolen a march on Airbus as British Airways begins expanding its longhaul fleet. The airline has placed orders for four Boeing 777 aircraft, with options for four more, ahead of Airbus A330s. The ease of assimilating up to eight aircraft into its existing fleet rather than having a small number of A 330s was the deciding factor, according to BA commercial director Robert Boyle. The airline already has 43 of the 777 aircraft in its fleet.
