Automated Part-Shipment Management at Land Border Posts’ Letter

On 06 February the South African Revenue Service (Sars) Executive: Customs & Excise   Centre of Excellence (Acting) wrote a letter to External Stakeholders titled “Automated Part-Shipment Management at Land Border Posts”.

Following the implementation of automated part-shipment administration under the Reporting of Conveyances and Release (RCG) project on 25 January 2019, a number of enquiries have been received from road carriers and their agents. Most  of  these are  operational matters that  have  been addressed  in paragraph  2.3.1   (e)   of   the   Customs   External   Policy:   Reporting  of Conveyances   and   Goods   (SC-CC-38)   dated   25   January   2019 - published on the RCG page on the Sars website (for more information, click here: RCG). With  regard to the  technical  aspects  surrounding  the  reporting  of  part-shipments,  more  than  97%  of  electronic  Road  Freight  Manifests  (e-RFMs)  are  being  reported correctly and   I   wish   to   convey   my appreciation to stakeholders and their service providers in this regard.
