APC Storage Solutions SA is currently busy building the biggest warehouse in Africa. It comprises a conventional pallet racking system and on completion this Boksburg warehouse will be able to accommodate approximately 130 000 pallets. The company has also won the tender to build the first racking-supported warehouse or self-supported warehouse (SSW) which will also be the highest non-automated warehouse in the world. “We believe that this will revolutionise the building industry. A saving of between 17% and 35% can be achieved by doing the SSW to a conventional building and adding racking,” says Ettienne Meyburgh, sales manager of APC Storage Solutions. “There is currently a lot of growth in African countries like Angola and Nigeria. We have a distributor in Namibia and Botswana and are servicing Angola, Nigeria, Mozambique, Lesotho, Kenya, Tanzania and Congo from our Johannesburg office. We are busy with one of the biggest mobile shelving installations for a client in Angola and we did a massive live pallet racking installation for a bottling company in Nigeria. “I’m really optimistic about the future not only for Africa’s growth, but also APC’s growth. We have been going since 1991 but only started importing from Mecalux in Spain in 2003. In the past fourand- half years we have grown to one of the biggest storage equipment suppliers in Africa, and we have the biggest range. We are constantly increasing and training staff to ensure that we always have the necessary skilled people to provide our customers with quality service and the right expertise,” Meyburgh explains. APC Storage Solutions specialises in storage equipment and has 45 different products in its range, from the smallest, which is the slotted angle shelving system, all the way to a fully automated warehouse.
