THE LUANDA-based Aguiar Group has come up with a new service to provide back-up for shippers and agents without representation in Angola.
"The current trend is for companies to deal directly with shipping lines in Angola leaving the consignees to arrange the rest," says Johannesburg-based Aguiar Group representative, Bill Brumby.
Since Crown Agents have taken over the running of customs in Angola and have made changes, there have been more than a few glitches, according to industry sources, and it's more important than ever that documentation is correctly manifested.
"We are offering companies who don't have agents in Angola, a tracking facility from arrival in Angola to destination, and following that the return of the empty container to the port.
"It's ideal for people who want to keep a check on where their containers are and whether they have been delivered."
Brumby believes that West Africa is a growing market, but that potential shippers and their agents are often held back by the difficulties of doing business in the region.
"We can provide the necessary back-up because we have the contacts, the infrastructure and the expertise."
Established more than 50 years ago, the Luanda headquartered Aguiar Group has specialised in the Angolan market and has offices in Lobito, Cabinda, Soyo and Namibe.
