ANGOLA SOUTH Line has
delivered on its promise and added a Durban call to its regular Cape Town - Luanda service. It has also increased frequency to twice a month following the addition of a new vessel, the Afrostar, on the route.
The line, which has been operating a groupage service from Cape Town, has extended this service to shippers in Gauteng and Durban.
The Afrostar is ideally suited
to the trade, according to Seascape's Jillian Appleby, Johannesburg-based agent for Angola South.
With two 30 ton cranes
capable of working in tandem the line will be targeting breakbulk shippers on its new Durban call.
And Appleby believes that Angola South, one of the few dedicated niche operators on the Angolan route, has plenty of advantage to sell.
Our surcharge is $160 per 6m container in contrast to other lines, and we have not as yet implemented a bunker surcharge.
In addition Angolan receivers are entitled to a 20% rebate on application in Angola. This applies only to imports moved on an Angolan registered shipping line.
Apart from its role as agent for Angola South Line, Seascape also operates as an independent consultancy for all
Africa-related business.
