Amarula makes a hit in US

Ray Smuts A UNIQUELY South African liqueur made from the fruit of the marula tree - also a favourite among soon-to-become tipsy elephants - was launched amid fanfare in the United States last week and appears set to become a serious contender in world liqueur stakes. More than 70% of Amarula CreamÕs volumes are exported and the brand already has a strong following in the United Kingdom, EU countries and Africa while it is the most popular cream-based liqueur in South America, claims manufacturer Distell. Amarula is being distributed in the US by Brown-Forman Corporation, a leading distiller and distributor of international brands such as Southern Comfort and Jack Daniels.
