Norwegian energy engineering enterprise, Aker Solutions, has secured a contract from Total Energies to provide standard Subsea Production Systems (SPS) for three infill wells tied back to the Moho Nord field in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The contract, valued between 0.5bn and 1.5 billion Norwegian krone, commits Aker Solutions to providing its standard and configurable deep-water SPS, including subsea X-mas trees, control systems, wellheads, and applicable tie-ins and distribution systems.

Operations will continue directly, with final deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

The Moho field supplies more than half of the DRC’s oil production, and Aker Solutions has been present since 2013.

This new contract allows Aker Solutions to maintain its presence in West Africa by providing its deep-sea technology and enhancing Moho’s potential.

Moho Nord is a deep offshore oil project situated 75 kilometres off the Congolese coast, operating at depths of 750 to 1 200 metres.

It has provided oil since 2017 and is considered the largest oil project in the DRC.

Total Energies is the main operator of the field (53.5%), utilising a partnership with Chevron (31.5%) and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (15%).

"We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Total Energies,” ," said Maria Peralta, executive vice president and head of Aker Solutions' subsea business.

“For Moho Infills, we will deliver TEP Congo with the deep-water version of our standard and configurable SPS technology, leveraging our unique success with standardisation and industrialisation.

“This standardised deep-water technology combines several advantages for the operators, including shorter lead times, more flexibility, and increased competitiveness – the essence of standardisation, and a reduced carbon footprint, thanks to its design.”
