ISO certification
expected soon
AIRLINK CARGO International (ACI) has set up a new division to supervise and co-ordinate all the ground handling services contracted by an airline with any third party, which means that all services covered by Section 13 in the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement can be provided by ACI in the future
"We have specific staff to meet all incoming flights and check that all ground
handling equipment is on hand, including steps, loaders and tugs as well as engineering, catering and crew transportation requirements," says managing director John Dickson.
"All necessary documentation and communication are taken care of in terms of the airlines' standard operating procedures. In addition, we provide a weight and balance service for operators of MD11F and B747F aircraft by fully trained and certified staff.
"This service is currently provided by ACI for Martinair but other airlines have now expressed an interest. The ground crew involved are trained and certified in Europe to ensure a high quality of service."
All the services rendered are documented in the ground handlers' quality and procedures manual, says Dickson. These, along with all other procedures at ACI, will shortly be subject to certification by the relevant ISO9002/2000 authority. Full ISO certification is expected within the next three months, he says.
