Agreement signed with courier and logistics operator

JOY ORLEK
BLACK ECONOMIC empowerment project specialist Afrilogix has added muscle to its Africa network with last week’s signing of an agency agreement with Nigerian courier and logistics service provider Graylink Express Delivery.
“Our project business has taken off enormously,” says director Nisa Dawood. “We’re also getting more and more involved in supply chain logistics, and the addition of Graylink’s logistics and courier expertise adds a new dimension to our service.”
Graylink was established seven years ago in Lagos and offers a comprehensive portfolio of supply chain management services.
“It’s an important step for us in extending our Africa reach,” says Dawood, who foresees significant new opportunities particularly in the telecommunications sector.
Eighteen months since its launch, Afrilogix is looking forward to a positive 2004, she says.
“Despite the resistance of major conglomerates to deal with smaller companies, we have made significant inroads based both on our track record with the likes of Spoornet and Transtel and our legitimate BEE status.
“We were recently awarded the Steers contract for Abidjan, which involves full supply chain logistics from warehouse to warehouse
“We turn over in the region of R3m-5m a month, and while some larger companies may still be sceptical, there is no need. We have the expertise, the track record and now the extended network in Africa.”

Nisa Dawood - ‘We have the expertise, the track record and now the extended network in Africa.’
