ANGOLA, Swaziland and Zimbabwe are rated by the Paris-based press freedom body Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF) as poor performers when it comes to respect for the freedom of the press. They were ranked 97th, 124th and 141st respectively out of the 166 countries in the study. In the African region, the Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique reports that only nine African countries rated better than Mozambique’s 63rd spot. It lists them as: SA with 21st spot; Benin 29th; Mauritius (41); Madagascar (46); Cape Verde Islands (47); Ghana (48); Mali and Namibia (joint 56); and Botswana (62).
