The hugely successful Air Cargo Operators Committee’s (ACOC) annual golf day raised a grand total of R84 160, which will be donated to a range of charities, the association announced on Thursday.

A hugely popular social networking gathering for operators in the freight and logistics sector supply chain, the ACOC golf day has become an institution on the industry’s annual calendar.

Said the ACOC’s Hayley van Rooyen: “This year’s event was a bumper 40 fourball turnout, one of the most successful golf day events we have hosted at Benoni Country Club, with the aim of raising funds for this year’s nominated organisations.

“This year the golf day raised R84 160 that will be donated to multiple charities, including Oliver’s Village as the main beneficiary; Casa Caritas; TAG; Twana Community Children’s Home and John Wesley Child Centre. We were able to raise this remarkable sum, more than double the amount collected last year, thanks to the generosity of the air cargo industry and its diverse stakeholders.”

An array of sponsored prizes was raffled on the day, among them international and domestic airline tickets, weekend getaway vouchers, dinner in the sky, advanced driving experience, and Pro Shop vouchers, to name a few.
