Zimbabwe agents go down like skittles

ZIMBABWE'S economic slide continues to take its toll on the freight industry. Chief executive of the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association, Rhett Hill, reports that a number of companies have closed down.
Non-availability of
foreign currency has been the biggest problem, he says. At least 15 companies have closed while a number of medium and large companies are feeling the pinch.
About 5 000 people work in the industry and it is estimated there has been a 60% drop in the volume of business in the past year, with 80% of that drop occurring in the last six months.
