As we do on an annual basis, we inform of DAFF’s notification of the “Application for Market Access Permits for Agricultural Products in terms of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement for 2017”, which this year was notified on 16 September 2016.
This annual application is required in accordance to South Africa's commitment under the WTO’s Marrakesh Agreement and relates to market access - preferential access for select agricultural products into South Africa.
DAFF thus notified that market access permits will be issued for agricultural products specified in the “Import Arrangements” schedule, which consist of five columns, namely (i) Tariff Heading (it should read “Tariff Heading and -Subheading); (ii) Description; (iii) Extent of Rebate; (iv) Annual Quota Tonnage; and (v) Conditions for the Issuing of Permits.
