World’s largest air vehicle gets ready for take off

The Airlander 10, measuring 92m in length, can carry up to 10 tonnes of cargo at a maximum speed of 145km.

The world’s largest air vehicle, the Airlander 10, is preparing for its inaugural flight - set to take place in the next two months.

If successful, UK-based Hybrid Air Vehicles (Hav) could transform logistics for mines and other businesses in remote areas, according to online magazine, Supply Management.

Unlike conventional airships, the craft uses multiple helium-filled hulls, rather than a single hull, Andy Barton, Hav’s business development director for commercial markets was cited by Supply Management as saying.
