Airfreight capacity into Ndola will receive a boost when a new international hub airport opens for business in December 2019.

Ground was broken in June 2017, with Chinese contractor AVIC International moving on site for the US$397-million project.

The airport’s facilities will include three aerodromes, a hotel, cargo terminal and business complex, with a 3500m runway.

It is situated around 13 km west of Ndola. It will have road links to Kitwe, Luanshya and Mufulira.
