THE FOLDING of the Kudu Gas exploration project off the Namibian coast has provided the port of Walvis Bay with an unexpected valuable additional facility. A giant shed which had been based at Luderitz for the exploration project has now been relocated to the country’s major harbour. Providing undercover storage capacity of 2 000sq/m, it has helped relieve the desperate shortage of covered storage space. Namport purchased the moveable facility when the gas project ended. It will be used for storing transit cargo destined for Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
