THE WALVIS Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) has earned international recognition as a ‘best practice trade and transportation facilitation network cluster.’ The UN Conference on Trade and Development, Geneva (UNCTAD) held in Kazakhstan during August this year referred to the WBCG efforts in its ‘Institutional Solutions’ debate where it was discussed under the category of strategies for landlocked and transit countries. The Group’s ability to plan and implement sustainable trade and transport facilitation initiatives was earmarked by the conference as an ideal example of how this can be carried out successfully in developing countries.
