A very large crude carrier (VLCC) run by Cosco Shipping has found itself in trouble off South Africa's Wild Coast.
The China-flagged 333 meter vessel, Yuan Hua Hu, was sailing south-east of Port Elizabeth when it called for assistance.
A journalist reporting for a European shipping portal writes that "tugs have been sent by the local maritime authority to rescue the VLCC.
"A company spokesperson says the crew is safe and no pollution has been found."
The crude oil tanker was heading for Angola at the time of the incident.
It is the 2nd time in less than a week that one of Cosco's ships have run into trouble in South Africa's water (see today's report: "Cosco vessel fire contained").
Earlier this week the Cosco São Paulo had a fire on board as it arrived at the Port of Cape Town (*).
