FREIGHT INDUSTRY veteran Bill Viveiros is the new manager of reconstituted forwarding specialist Danzas Intercontinental.

This follows the signing of an agreement between Danzas and Grindrod International Freight which sees the Swiss company, with its worldwide network of offices, concentrating on forwarding, and hiving off the clearing function to Grindrod (FTW July 26, 1996).

Danzas' core business world-wide is forwarding, and this is what we'll sell in South Africa, Viveiros told FTW. Grindrod is currently terminating existing global partnerships to work exclusively with Danzas worldwide.

Previous Danzas m.d. Michael Roll will leave the company. His future plans are not yet known.

Staff has been scaled down to 12 in Johannesburg concentrating on sales and customer service, with two in Cape Town and Durban. The Johannesburg office will continue to operate from its current premises in Randburg.

With the reduction in legislation and increased technology, forwarding has to the be the future of the industry, says Viveiros. Previously m.d. of Renfreight Forwarding he has notched up some 40 years experience in the industry.
