US ports bring on ISPS charge

The US port system – following a lead from other major ports around the world - has also now introduced an international ship and port security (ISPS) charge for all seafreight traffic entering or leaving the country. On March 1 a charge of US$6 per TEU was introduced - payable in the US by either the shipper or recipient, according to Safcor Panalpina.
