Tigers Global Logistics has
moved and upgraded to its
4 600-sqm Johannesburg
warehouse – which it took
over in June this year – to
include amongst other
offerings a temperaturecontrolled
facility for
the distribution of
pharmaceutical products.
Paul Lawrence, MD
of Tigers, told FTW that
the warehouse – which
offers in excess of 4 000
pallet positions – had been
upgraded according to
good distribution practice
(GDP) requirements
and awareness of the
specialised need for
the correct handling of
pharmaceuticals, whether
in raw or bulk form.
“Our facility allows us to
store raw and bulk pharma
products based on strict
GDP guidelines in terms
of temperature control,
temperature mapping, and
specific quality policies. As
a member of Pharmafreight
International, we have
access to GDP certified
partners and their workf low
processes,” he said, adding
that as a Pharmafreight
licence-holder, Tigers had
access to vast amounts of
knowledge and available
data.
Lawrence explained that
the process was driven by
specific GDP guidelines,
either from clients’ specific
GDP requirements or
from protocol provided
by Pharmafreight
International – a
worldwide network
of specialists in
the international movement
of pharmaceuticals.
Tigers has a GDP audited
warehouse, in addition
to standard operation
procedures (SOPs) and
quality policies in place,
according to Lawrence.
“Tigers’ client interfacing
system, SmartHub:
Connect, pushes data into
clients’ enterprise resource
planning (ERP), enabling
them to pull stock, sales
orders, purchase orders,
and delivery reports,”
Lawrence pointed out,
highlighting that this
created various check
points to eliminate errors
and mitigate risk in the
supply chain.
He said that while
there were a number of
high-profile clients who
really embraced Tigers’
high-tech approach, there
were those who feared the
unknown, but the company
had overcome those
fears by giving them full
integration into its systems
which offer full visibility.
“We manage the logistics
and create bespoke supply
chain solutions, while they
have full visibility of stock
and movements and are
therefore still in control of
their products.
Our service offering is
f lexible and scalable to
accommodate any specific
need the client may have,”
explained Lawrence.
He added that Tigers
could offer any systemto-
system integration.
“We offer temperaturecontrolled
warehousing,
pick and pack, bond store
and general storage, with a
wide range of value-added
services.”
